The IFDS Disabled Sailing International Championship, 2011, Homerus Blind Match Racing, has been won by Vicki Sheen from Great Britain. Sheen maintained top position throughout two round robins and the finals.

Sheen’s crew was Nick Donnini on mainsheet and Dennis Manning on headsail.

There’s just something about going as fast as nature can push you.  Actually, perhaps that’s better said:  There’s just something about watching somebody go as fast as nature can push THEM.  Most of us don’t, for instance, wear those flying suits and jump off of cliffs, but we like to watch others with the skill and courage do it.  In the same vein, most of us don’t strap ourselves to rockets and see how fast we can go, but we certainly like watching people like Paul Larsen, and this year, Paul’s got a whole new rocket to ride!

The SailRocket Team today launched its second-generation speed sailing boat from East Cowes on the Isle of Wight.

Vestas SailRocket 2 is designed to be significantly faster than its predecessor, with the ultimate aim of breaking the ‘Outright World Speed Sailing Record’.

Immediately after the launch the team prepared the new boat for shipping to Walvis Bay, Namibia, where sailing record attempts will begin in April.

Ice boating in Red Bank, N.J. inspires high emotion and dedication among its devotees.
