Incredible – the MOD 70 Spindrift capsizes while racing in Dublin, Dun Laoghaire. The boat capsized with 25 knots of wind in a severe gust during the Inshore Race of the Route des Princes. It is the first time a MOD70 capsizes since this One Design boat was launched 2 years ago. Yann Guichard was at the helm of the boat when the accident occurred.

Lending Club today announced that it has partnered with Tritium Racing to attempt a new Transpacific Yacht Race record next month on board a 73-foot offshore trimaran, now named “Lending Club.” The Transpacific Yacht Race (Transpac) starts off Point Fermin near Los Angeles and finishes off Diamond Head Lighthouse in Honolulu, a distance of 2,225 nautical miles (2,560 miles; 4,121 kilometers).

Artemis Racing’s owner, Torbjörn Törnqvist, this week visited San Francisco, where he spent time with the team—working out, participating in dive training, and sailing on the AC45 (even notching a new speed record). It was Torbjörn’s second visit in the last month.
