New Zealand’s Sam Harvey is ready to defend his world championship personal watercraft (PWC or jet-ski) racing title at the International Jet Sports Boating Association (IJSBA) world finals in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, which start on 3 October.

Harvey, a marine retailer in Howick, Auckland, rides a Sea-Doo® PWC and won the Pro Runabout Open title – a class for modified PWCs – in 2009. This victory marked the first time a New Zealander had won a world title in PWC racing and was Harvey’s first world final win after competing at the prestigious IJSBA world finals every year for the past ten years. Jet skiers competing in the annual Solent Skiers Association Wight Stuff event will be raising money for the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity when they take to the water on Saturday, 4 September

On Saturday 04 September some 60 personal watercraft (PWC) and up to 120 riders will be heading to Lee on Solent, Hampshire to take part in the annual event, supported by the RYA

The event, which is the biggest recreational PWC event in the world, will see the mass of riders take part in a day long blast of some 60 miles. Heading off from Daedalus Slipway, Lee on Solent, the fleet will ride clockwise around the Isle of Wight with quick stops at Sandown and Yarmouth for break, fuel and food, before heading back to Lee on Solent from where the probably quite weary riders will be able to share their adventures of the day with fellow competitors at the after event party …  Details
