Each year Desert Storm Poker Run & Shootout holds the Lake Havasu Parade of Boats and 2016 was an impressive display! Team Farnsworth showed off three of their boats: Low Altitude, this year’s Shootout winner, Silver Lining and Center Console. The parade worked it’s way through Lake Havasu Channel and once out on the lake, the boats take off for the Poker Run with helicopters in chase!
Last year’s winners of the Desert Storm Shootout prepare to do battle again this year at Lake Havasu, Arizona. Team Farnsworth ready Low Altitude, a unique a 50 ft Mystic C5000R, powered by twin 1850 hp T53 turbine engines on a catamaran hull, performs test runs and fine tuning for this year’s 18th running of the Annual Desert Storm Shootout.
It’s not a typical week in Lake Havasu, AZ. when the huge boating event called Desert Storm rolls into the city! This year the Street Fair was on Thursday with the Poker Run on Friday and the Shootout that started Saturday. By noon Saturday, a monsoon storm rolled in with heavy rain, lightning and thunder cancelling the races until Sunday when they resumed. Within the video you will see some of the fastest boats on the water including a turbine jet boat with a top speed of over 200 MPH!
Another amazing turnout at the Desert Storm Poker Run, featured by Spectre Powerboats. We welcome you and introduce you to our longtime friend, test-team driver, and host for this years annual event — Jim Wilkes. He has been in the boating industry now for well over 30 years, and enjoys participating in the spectacles of the boating world. Jim takes us through several showcases including: Kelly Kraiss’ ‘Top Cat’, a 2009 368 Skater, Kent Fauntleroy at Lifeline Race Gear, and Kevin Mickelian at KMG Boats. The video also debuts several running shots of powerboats on the water, while giving you, the viewer, an action-packed vantage point from a high-speed helicopter.
