Last summer we told you about a locally-made war canoe that was going to be showcased at the London Olympics. The vessel received a lot of attention before its maiden voyage, but now it seems it’s nowhere to be seen. According to its builder his creation was left behind, forgotten, somewhere in England. Commonly, when someone sees a wooden canoe the reaction is somewhat stunned at its beauty but quite unsure whether it would float or not. Why then would someone quickly step into a canoe that was painted say…forest green, red or black? Is it a fear of something that is obviously handmade or a comfort in mass production? Both?
