The 2009 Surftech Jay Moriarity Memorial Paddleboard Race is an annual ocean paddleboard race in the beautiful waters of the Monterey Bay. This event is in memory of legendary Santa Cruz Waterman Jay Moriarity. Participants will enjoy a challenging course, a family-friendly atmosphere, and a great raffle.

Paddlers can take on the challenging 12 mile course or opt for the fun 2 mile course which runs parallel with New Brighton State Beach. There are free races for kids 12 and under following the 12 mile race.

The Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association’s regatta season starts June 6, and Hui Nalu Canoe Club is ready for another challenging summer.

DAVID Smith and Luke Morrison combined to claim Australia¿s first gold medal in the men¿s K2 1000m race at the canoe sprint World Cup in Szeged, Hungary.

Smith and Morrison executed the perfect race to reel in the field after the 750m mark to not only claim the gold medal but secure their berth at the World championships later this year in Canada.

The Australian duo completed the course in a time of 3mins 38.001sec to lead home the Hungarian and German crews to claim a famous victory.

Fellow Australians Jacob Clear from Queensland and Murray Stewart (NSW) finished fourth.
