In late February, a New York Supreme Court judge renewed a 1998 decision saying that private landowners aren’t allowed to prohibit canoeists from using waterways on their properties after the Brandreth Park Association and Friends of Thayer Lake sued paddler Phil Brown for crossing a small stream connecting two popular Adirondack lakes.
