Subaru Rally Team USA’s Travis Pastrana won the B Main race, securing himself a position in the A Main final. Despite his hardest efforts, Travis came up just shy of the podium and landed in fourth place. Teammate Dave Mirra was right behind Travis and secured fifth. Dave drove well throughout the heat races and advanced directly to the A Main final starting grid. With a sluggish start, Dave was behind the pack in the beginning; but, he managed to work his way up the field by the time the checkered flag dropped
Travis Pastrana has signed a deal with Michael Waltrip Racing that could put him in NASCAR’s second-tier Nationwide series as early as next year.
The action sports star has formed a team called Pastrana-Waltrip Racing, with Waltrip and Gary and Blake Bechtel. Pending NASCAR approval, he will run seven Nationwide races next season and 20 in 2012.
“I’ve been following NASCAR closely for years as a fan of the sport with competing in the sport a lifelong dream,†Pastrana said in a statement released Thursday.
Travis Pastrana has made most of his fame and fortune by racing motorcycles. Now the word is that the extreme-sports legend (and rally-car champ) is taking his driving talents to NASCAR.
