With all that has happened this year, one storyline that has seemingly been lost in the shuffle a bit is the situation at Team Red Bull.  Another “we’re getting closer” story about Red Bull’s plans for 2010 and beyond appeared over the weekend on NASCAR.com.  We didn’t learn anything new from it, and TRB’s GM Jay Frye remained non-committal on their driver and manufacturer situation beyond 2009.

Since coming into the Cup Series in 2007, Red Bull has struggled to find success on track.  Brian Vickers has been close on several occasions over the last few years, but has yet to find victory lane in his #83 Toyota.  The 84/82 team looked to be gaining ground last season with AJ Allmendinger, but a driver swap …  Details

Roush Fenway Racing drivers realize they’ve fallen behind the competition, particularly Hendrick Motorsports. But can they get up in time to make a serious run at the championship?

A year ago, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle combined for 11 Ford victories. However, since Matt Kenseth started off the 2009 season with back-to-back wins at Daytona and Fontana, the blue oval has looked more like a zero on the manufacturer scoreboard.

Hendrick-built Chevrolets have won the past three races, including Jimmie Johnson’s victory at the Brickyard last weekend, and Friday’s rain-shortened practice at Pocono Raceway looked like more of the same, as all four Hendrick teammates and the satellite Stewart-Haas team taking up six of the top seven places on the lap charts…  Details

The surefire NASCAR Hall of Famer has done it all — except qualifying for the Chase for the championship as an owner.

Kasey Kahne is on the brink of giving the King that spot in the 10-race sprint for the title.

“I think that we have a really good shot,” at making the Chase, Kahne said. “We need a couple more things to go our way to figure out before the Chase if we want to win races and be really competitive. I think that we have a top-10 team right now. We just need to keep building on it.”   …  Details

mustangIn a meeting with NASCAR team owners Tuesday the sanctioning body announced that the newly redesigned Nationwide Series racecar would make its limited debut in 2010 with an eye towards becoming the full time racecar in 2011.

The 2010 schedule calls for 5-6 races for the car.

“We had a very productive meeting this morning (Tuesday, July 28) with the team owners from the NASCAR Nationwide Series about the rollout schedule for that series’ new race car,” said NASCAR vice president of competition Robin Pemberton. “In the days ahead, we will digest what was discussed today and make a final decision on the rollout for next season with full anticipation of integrating the new car for the entire 2011 schedule.”

While the exact make of the cars from Dodge, Chevrolet and Toyota haven’t been finalized…  Details
