Hopes for Junior Johnson Racing to propel son Robert into the Sprint Cup Series

Junior Johnson has launched a race team that he hopes will propel his son, 17-year-old Robert, eventually to the Sprint Cup Series.

The elder Johnson, who was enshrined in NASCAR’s Hall of Fame as a member of its inaugural 2010 class of inductees, will run Junior Johnson Racing from shops on his 278-acre estate in Hamptonville, N.C.

The Daly Planet, with its accompanying Blog, suggests that NASCAR’s involvement with Ethanol 15 could be a time bomb!

John Daly pointed out that even the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers recently filed a petition with the U.S. Appellate Court challenging the EPA’s approval for gas containing 15 percent Ethanol. Similar concerns have also been expressed by Fox Cable News contributors John Stossel and Glen Beck.

Yet in early December, NASCAR bossman Brian France announced a partnership with producers of the alternative bio fuel composition of 15 percent Ethanol. The message to NASCAR fans was that E15 definitely will be a safe alternative in 2011. And NASCAR will be looking good because they will be considered to be “politically correct” for promoting green products!

Robby Gordon roams around his shop about three weeks before his 2011 season kicks off with the Dakar Rally, and he has a group of mechanics working on his Hummer for that event and a smaller group working on a Sprint Cup car for the Daytona 500.
