YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley is putting some of his fortune into Formula One as primary investor in the new U.S. F1 team due to enter the sport next season.

“I am thrilled to be a part of America’s first Formula One team in more than 40 years,” the multi-millionaire told the autosport.com website.

“Getting in on the ground floor of a project of this size and scope is a tremendous opportunity, and I look forward to helping shape the US F1 vision and corporate strategy for years to come.”

Red Bull’s pursuit of championship leader Brawn GP resumes at the European Grand Prix, where Ferrari reserve driver Luca Badoer returns to Formula One’s starting grid for the first time in a decade to fill in for the injured Felipe Massa.

Badoer, who has tested for the Italians since 1998, will navigate the Valencia street race in place of Massa, who continues to recover from skull fractures suffered in a freak accident at the preceding Hungarian GP.

INDIANAPOLIS Aug 17, 2009: Sarah Fisher has constantly reinvented and reinterpreted motor racing from the start of her career; most often, without a backup car at her disposal. For only the second time in her career, Fisher will now have a backup car in the transporter. This means that Fisher can now leave the mental drag of worrying about damaging her primary racecar behind.

During a surprise press announcement Monday, Fisher was presented with a backup car from one of her sponsor partners, Wink and Libba Hartman of Hartman Oil, during a ceremony at her Sarah Fisher Racing (SFR) headquarters.
