Formula DRIFT heads into Road Atlanta, the home of the Series’ inaugural event back in 2004. Friday, May 8 will serve as a preview day with both Pro Am and the Formula DRIFT Pro Championship practice and qualifying. Saturday, May 9 is the main event and will feature both the Pro Am Top 8 competition and Formula DRIFT Pro Championship Top 32 competition. Automobile Drag Racing Drifting – “Hot Import Nights” Adds Drag Racing into the Program

Hot Import Nights returns to New England with a new outdoor show and features. HIN’s 2008 New England leg was held in Boston, but heads across to Epping, New Hampshire and the New England Dragway. A headline feature of this year’s event is the newly-added amateur Rivalry Racing drag-racing competition.

Action sports fans can check out the Freestyle Motocross stunts, BMX freestyle and the National Guard Ultimate Unlimited Car Championship show-car competition featuring awards and prizes for the best cars, displays and team presentations.

The evening of entertainment includes rappers LMFAO, Rivalry Nights VIP Lounge, Breaking Point B-Boy Battles all tied together by the award-winning DJ Rocky Rock.

Automobile Drifting – Formula Drift: Success on a sliding scale

LONG BEACH – Racing through the Grand Prix of Long Beach course in Formula Drift cars is challenging enough. Doing it with two other drivers only increases the level of difficulty.

Throw together three drivers who earned their pro licenses only a few months ago and the chances of successfully sliding and winding through the street circuit becomes nearly impossible.

But that’s what Michael Essa, Cody Parkhouse and Dan Pina are going to attempt today in the Formula Drift exhibition.

Automobile Drifting – All Show, More Go: Sliding With Rhys Millen in the Genesis Coupe Drift Car

Earlier this week, Hyundai Motors, one of drifter extraordinare Rhys Millen’s primary backers in the 2009 Formula DRIFT racing series, invited us out to experience first hand the Genesis coupe-based race car Millen will campaign in this year’s Formula D. The tire-smoking fun starts this weekend in Long Beach at the site of next week’s Grand Prix of Long Beach IndyCar season opener.

As we previously highlighted here on MT’s WOT blog, Millen’s RMR Racing team metamorphosed the Hyundai Genesis Coupe into a full-blown drift combatant. Based on the automaker’s “Art of Speed” concept shown at last year’s SEMA Show, the car is powered by a fully-tuned, 560-hp, turbocharged 4.1L version of Hyundai’s Lambda V-6…  Details & Pictures
