Formula Drift entered the final event of the 2010 season at the Toyota Speedway at Irwindale for Round 7: Title Fight. Tanner Foust in the Hankook/Rockstar Energy Scion Racing TC took the event victory and becomes the Tires.com Triple Crown winner, while Vaughn Gittin Jr. in the Monster Energy/Falken Ford Mustang was crowned the 2010 Formula Drift champion. The Toyota Speedway at Irwindale hosted the finale event to a sold out crowd. The action was non-stop all weekend featuring the Formula Drift ProAM championship, Fatlace One of One Showcase car show, and the Formula Drift championship. The finale event did not disappoint. The battle for third place pitted Darren McNamara in the Falken Tire Saturn Sky against Michihiro Takatori in the BFGoodrich Nissan S15. Vaughn Gittin Jr., came out to Round 7 of the Formula Drift Professional Championship with high hopes of putting himself on the podium one last time to finish his successful season.
Not only did Gittin Jr. accomplish that goal when he took second place at Irwindale Speedway, his sixth podium out of seven rounds, but he secured himself as the official 2010 Formula Drift Champion and as the Driver of the Year in the Monster Energy Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang.
During the weekend, a sold-out crowd filled the paddock and the grandstands at Irwindale Speedway, otherwise known as The House of Drift.
