‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett can always be relied on for taking things to the next level. Last year, the drift king took on the monstrous Crown Range, a sidewinding 10.4km stretch of tarmac between Queenstown and Wanaka in his native New Zealand, in his specially modified 515bhp ‘MADBUL’ Mazda RX-7. This year, Mad Mike’s got his sights set on winning – make that totally dominating – the 2014 Red Bull Drift Shifters event.

Motorhead hosted their first Hill Climb event held on the winding stretch of road that makes up the amazing Mazda Turnpike located on Hakone mountain. This special event played host to a wide range of racing machines from Super GT to classic race cars along with a high powered drift machine all with the sole intentions of attacking these fast paced, dangerous road.
Top drift racers from around the world gathered in Auckland for another high octane edition of Red Bull Drift Shifters. The unique concept allowed drivers to break free from drifting’s traditional dual car battle format, as they race against the clock to score points from automated speed, angle and proximity sensors positioned around the course.
