Where They Raced: Speed Demons in the City of Angels tells the story of a pre-gridlocked Los Angeles. A time when it was ripe with orange groves, movie stars, year-round sun and more auto racing and innovation than anywhere else in America. This documentary film uncovers the forgotten history with lost archival films, hundreds of vintage photos, and revealing interviews.

Hosted by Harold Osmer who literally wrote the book and directed by Harry Pallenberg (Shotgun Freeway, Women in Boxes and California’s Gold), Where They Raced reunites the ghost tracks of Los Angeles with the cars that raced them and gets the families and experts to tell the tales that give these fading memories a victory lap.

Dale Armstrong, whose talents as a driver, tuner, fabricator and innovator rivaled those of drag racing legend “Big Daddy” Don Garlits, died Friday at his home in Temecula, Calif., with his wife, Susie, and their menagerie of rescued dogs and cats by his side. He was 73.

Although he was best known as crew chief to Kenny Bernstein when the Texan won five of his six NHRA championships, Armstrong was much, much more. In fact, he already had completed one successful career before he and Bernstein joined forces in 1982.   …  More
