Christmas came early for a group of big wave chargers, who paddled into some epic Mavericks conditions after a meaty swell lit up Half Moon Bay this past December. Big waves mean bigger wipeouts, and day was filled with plenty of them, but those who could survive the drop were faced with ride-of-your-life conditions that did not disappoint. Check out the best makes and misses from the session, and you’ll see why surfing Mavericks in heavy conditions is not for the faint of heart.
