ORGANISERS of the men’s world surfing event, the Quiksilver Pro, are on heightened alert after unconfirmed shark sightings in nearby waters.
Contest director Rod Brooks said he had received reports of large groups of sharks at Fingal Head, about 5km south of the competition area at Snapper Rocks, on the Gold Coast.

The Surfrider Foundation is currently working with a wide variety of individuals and organizations on the Marine Life Protection Act –or MLPA.
