Many us us who have been surfing for a while – before HD Surf Cameras , cell phones, the Internet, and swell forecasts – remember how difficult it used to be to determine what the surf and wind conditions would be like at the beach, unless we happened to live right on the beach. During school while our teachers might have droned on about Algebra, Napoleon, or World War Two, our attention was instead focused out the window looking at the tops of the trees for clues as to how much wind there might be at the beach, what direction it was coming from, and whether we might be able to sneak in a good surf session after school.
