A dozen students are spending spring break on the waves in a surfing camp for youths with autism and related disorders
On a day teeming with waves, Jordan Saruski’s face said it all when he finally caught his and stood up for a moment on a 12-foot surfboard at South Pointe Park in Miami Beach.

People from all over the world have attended the Ron Jon Easter Surfing Festival for years, but this year new entrants on the waves will not be the only difference.
One change will be the addition of a new event, stand-up paddleboard surfing, sponsored by Banana Boat.
“People can do some really neat things using the paddles as a rudder,” said John Griffin, co-producer of the festival, which will be from April 10-12 this year.
Another change is the limitation of entrants in the various surfing competitions.
