A wave surfer having a good time in the small river Eisbach in downtown Munich. This standing wave is apparently not by design but by accident. Surfers discovered the wave and started surfing. In the beginning it was outlawed but eventually the government came through and let them keep doing it.

SUNSET BEACH, Oahu/Hawaii (Friday, January 15, 2010) – A solid 6- to 8-foot swell graced the lineup for the opening day of the Da Hui presents the Sponsor Me Sunset Open, at Sunset Beach today and featured the most star-studded field to ever contest a 1-star World Qualifying Series event. Local power house Pancho Sullivan set a high bar for the 80 competitors who hit the water, posting the highest heat score of the day: 16.5 out of 20.

This is the first event of the strengthened 2010 Association of Surfing Professionals Hawaii tour and offers a total of $10,000 in prize money. A two-day event, it is possible that the winner of the Sponsor Me Sunset Open will be crowned at Sunset Beach tomorrow …  Details

The first event of the Jamaica Surfing Association’s 2010 National Open Series kicked off at the Lighthouse surfing beach along the Port Royal Main Road on Saturday 16 of January. Top Jamaican surfer Inilek Wilmot, Brother of 2009 National Open Champ Icah Wilmot, walked away with the 1000 points on offer for the win and now leads the points race in the five event series which climaxes in December.

New Zealand police investigate surfboard-stealing dolphin

Police in New Zealand are investigating reports that a boisterous teenage dolphin with a reputation for stealing surfboards and balls from swimmers was attacked with a paddle after annoying a canoeist.
