The long awaited and greatly anticipated inaugural Sorted Surf Festival went ahead as planned last weekend on the 20th & 21st March at the newly completed and regenerated Boscombe Seafront, the two day festival saw well over 5,000 visitors which had two contrasting days for spectators and contestants.
The surf contest was called on for Saturday and given the green light the previous Thursday by the organisers and with a diminishing swell in tricky conditions all four categories had to be completed in one day. HUNTINGTON BEACH, California (Sunday, March 28, 2010) – Dylan Goodale (Kauai, HI), 19, won the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 2-Star Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack’s Surfboards in a come-from-behind victory over former event champion Micah Byrne (Huntington Beach, CA), 28, big-wave specialist Peter Mel (Santa Cruz, CA), 40, and Santa Cruz aerialist Jason Collins (Santa Cruz, CA), 35, to take out his first career ASP WQS victory while ringing in his 19th birthday.
