“There’s a reason why so many people come here each year, and a reason why so many people come back,” San Juan Capistrano surfer Kevin Skvarna told us when we talked to him down in Saladita during May’s Mexi Log Fest. He was talking about the machine-like and absurdly-lengthy left-hand pointbreak that drew an international contingent of more than 140 surfers to Mainland Mexico for the event.
Skvarna–who surfed his way to 3rd place this year–was part of a fairly large group of surfers at Mexi Log who regularly surf San Onofre State Beach. Along with Noah and Ben Cardoza, Brock Thompson, Wiley Archbold, Hallie Rohr, Karina Rozunko, Kyle Perez, Max Caldwell and Summer Richley, these up-and-coming loggers are already grizzled vets of Mexi Log.
