Heavy Water follows big wave surfer Nathan Fletcher through the evolution of surfing and his relationship with big waves. Tracing his lineage back to his grandfather, one of the pioneers of Oahu’s North Shore, Fletcher and other fellow surf and skateboard legends share their personal views on some of the iconic moments of the sport that shaped surfing as we know it today. Heavy Water delves deep into the surfing culture and its roots. The deep ties between surfing and skateboarding show once again when Nathan performs the never before done “Acid Bomb Drop” in big waves, a maneuver borrowed from skateboarding and involving assistance from a helicopter.
11/13/2019 – Surfer Pedro Scooby races down a huge Nazare wave before a nasty wipeout and 4 wave hold down. Multiple Jetskis searched and was almost overtaken by waves before Pedro is finally found, rescued and quickly brought to shore where first responders met him. The whole thing captured on drone in 4k. Pedro was not seriously injured, he said it was the worst hold down he is has ever experienced.
Justine Dupont may have broken the Guinness World Record for the biggest wave ever surfed by a female athlete.
On November 13, 2019, the 28-year-old French big wave surfer dropped into a massive wall of water that is estimated to measure between 65 and 68 feet.
