Shawn Dollar sees his life as split into two parts: the time before he rode the biggest wave any surfer had ever paddled into – a 55-footer at the famed Mavericks break north of Half Moon Bay – and the days since.
“Everything came together in that one wave for me,” Dollar said of his ride on Feb. 13, 2010. “It’s hard to describe, but the feeling was such a high that I truly believe I may never be able to achieve that feeling again. And I’m OK with that.”
