Layne Beachley has won the Women’s Masters title at the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship in Ecuador while TravelSIM Team Australian finished fifth in the overall teams’ result. Held at Montanita from 6th-14th April, the championships attract 150 surfers 35-years and older from more than 20 nations competing in the Masters (Over 35), Grand Masters (Over 40), Kahuna (Over 45) and Grand Kahuna (Over 50) divisions.

In perfect surf at Manu Bay, Raglan, young Mount Maunganui surfer Mackenzie Christie surfed to his first ever victory at national level winning the premier Under 18 Boys Division of the Backdoor GromBash.

With surf sitting around the 1.5m – 2.0m mark all day with next to no wind, the scene was set for an amazing day of surfing that included firsts, double titles and a whole lot of fun for the country’s best young surfers. Christie claimed his victory late in the day surfing to a 14.0 point total.

Spice Coast Open India’s first ever official national surfing and stand up paddle (SUP) competition, organised by Surfing Federation of India (SFI), will be held from May 3-5 at Kovalam beach in Kerala.

During an epic day of amazing waves and tremendous surfing performances, the 2013 ISA World Masters Surfing Championship officially closed.

The waves were incredible throughout the Finals. The morning heats saw glassy surf in the 6-8 feet range at the perfect right hand point-break in Montañita, Ecuador.
