In the first surf edition of Great Days, we followed Smith Team riders CJ Hobgood and Yadin Nicol around Western Australia as they competed in the Drug Aware Margaret River Pro. During “off-days” the crew traveled up and down the storied coastline of Western Australia in search of Great Days-worthy waves.

A year and a half ago, Kristen Brown took a leap of faith, quit her cushy job at a big bank in New York City, and booked a ticket to Tamarindo, Costa Rica. The Pura Vida-ise is the second-largest beach town in Costa Rica, an unrushed surf mecca where Brown works on her backside bottom turn in the water and does social media for Mr. Endless Summer himself, surfboard shaper Robert August. When she’s not “Twitter-floppy-blogging” for August (as he calls it), she also designs and sells a line of 100-percent recycled postcards and helps spread the word about no-slip bikini line Mi Ola.

The best female surfers in the world have tasted the power of Restaurants, as the 2014 Fiji Women’s Pro enters Round 4 in four-to-six foot (1.5-2 metre) surf.
Laura Enever shone as the day’s highest scorer, combining tubes, turns and lip attacks to secure an overall heat total of 18.84 points against Sally Fitzgibbons and Paige Hareb.
