I am so proud to present the release of my new video Leila X Sophia. This is a very special project for me, as it is a tribute to my experience at the latest Life Rolls On event held in Huntington Beach, CA during the 2014 Vans US Open of Surfing. Life Rolls On is a non-profit organization inspiring others to experience an unlimited amount of opportunities beyond paralysis and disability. Both inspiring each other to live life to the fullest, my sister Sophia and I try and do as many Life Rolls On events as we can.
For those of you who don’t know, Sophia was born with spina bifida, which is a birth defect where the spine is incomplete and undeveloped, causing disability and interference with everyday activities. This video documents us partnering with Life Rolls On for the fourth time to have Sophia go out and surf alongside me. Surfing has given Sophia tremendous amount of confidence and fearlessness out in the water, sharing her happiness and love with everyone around her. Both Sophia and I hope this video can urge others with disabilities that they are not alone and they can do anything they put their mind to.
