They call themselves cliff divers, but still use a platform — why?

It’s all about pure nature and brave men. When these athletes exchange the cliff for a platform and show their jaw-dropping manoeuvres from at least 27 metres in front of a huge crowd of spectators, they transform one of the world’s oldest extreme sports into high-level competition. For the first time in four years, the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series went back to the roots and held an ‘off-the-rocks’ competition on the volcanic islands of the Azores, in Portugal.
