“Arden Taylor was only 42 years old when one day he left work early due to a terrible headache. He found out shortly thereafter that he was suffering from inoperable brain tumors. News traveled fast through the surf community and when a young surfer heard about Ardens condition he instantly asked, “Is there something we could do to make him feel better?” The Akins family & the Ventura Surf Club together decided to have a surf benefit in Ardens name.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n

This year’s benefit goes to Mike Fisher,\u00c2\u00a0who not only \u00c2\u00a0rips on a long board \u00c2\u00a0but a all around great person. \u00c2\u00a0When he was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer the community was quick to come together to help him. A tumor was removed from his head a few weeks ago, but to fully rid himself of the disease he is attending a treatment facility in Texas. The costly treatment could save his life if its a breakthrough.
