Bend Oregon Outrigger includes nearly 50 members who bring a centuries-old Polynesian sport to an unlikely location \u00e2\u20ac\u201d an inland high-desert town.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The core group of competitive paddlers \u00e2\u20ac\u201d about half of the club&#8217;s membership \u00e2\u20ac\u201d trains twice a week for races throughout the Pacific Northwest, California, Hawaii and Canada. The local paddle-sport club was founded in the early 1990s by Bend residents Meg Chun and Leslie Blok, who formed a women&#8217;s team.
