When she started out in NHRA drag racing in 1996, the sport was male dominated. That has since changed, with Sampey playing a significant role with the success she’s had on her Pro Stock Motorcycle.
She’s not only won races (41 in all), she’s won over thousands of fans and is now one of NHRA’s most popular and recognizable drivers.

The second Challenger built for the strip is now in the hands of the veteran Mopar drag racer who’ll campaign it in NHRA’s Stock/Super Stock classes.
Veteran Super Stock racer Larry Griffith took delivery of the second Dodge Challenger Drag Pak by Mopar® yesterday. Griffith’s original award-winning 1968 Dodge Dart package car restored by former Chrysler executive, Vice President of Global Sales, Joseph Hilger, was also on display at the delivery. Fiat SpA’s chief executive is going to “fight like hell” to keep the group’s car business profitable this year, although he admitted it would be difficult to do it in the first quarter, according to a news report.

Australia’s Joel Parkinson defeated Brazil’s Adriano de Souza, 18.83-11.30, today to capture Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast surfing contest at Snapper Rocks, Gold Coast, Australia.
The final heat of the opening event in the 2009 ASP World Tour was held in 6- to 8-foot waves.
