During my early years on the bench, pit road did not have a speed limit. Cars could enter and exit pit road as fast as they wanted.

As racing speeds became faster and faster, so did speeds on pit road. A few minor mishaps over the years didn’t seem to make a difference.

The National Water Ski Racing Association announced today the selections to the 2009 U.S. Elite Water Ski Racing Team, the U.S. Formula 2 Water Ski Racing Team and the U.S. Junior Water Ski Racing Team.  Athletes selected to the teams will compete in the 2009 Water Ski Racing World Championships, July 18-25, in Antwerp, Belgium.

The teams were selected based upon performances from the 2008 season, up through the first three races of 2009. A five-person committee appointed by the NWSRA board of directors made the selections.

Big Stick Log Jam – Pleasure Point – Santa Cruz, CA

The annual Logjam! “Old Boards, No Cords” longboard event hosted by the Big Stick Surfing Association (BSSA)  always features a slew of talented surfers tearing it up at Pleasure Point (near the intersection of 38th Ave. and East Cliff Drive). It all goes down in front of Jack O’Neill’s home Saturday from 7am-4pm, with semis and finals to follow on Sunday at 8am-2pm.

This year’s event benefits the Santa Cruz Surfing Museum , which may shut down in June 2009.  Enter via your local Coalition Surf Club.  Visit the BSSA site  for entry & sponsorship info.
