TOKYO — In what is sure to be a controversial announcement, Nissan on Thursday claimed that its GT-R has set a new record lap time at the Nürburgring circuit. Nissan said the latest lap time of 7 minutes, 26 seconds was set on April 23, besting the previous lap time of 7 minutes, 27 seconds on April 15.
Nissan did not provide such details as whether the GT-R was riding on standard Japan- market tires, whether it had any modifications or what the weather conditions were at the time…Â Details

What an event! Brandon Bay delivered like never before provided the most extreme conditions ever seen at a UK contest. It also gave us the best amateur wave competition for years once the mast high rollers calmed down the head high jumpers!

Gowlane was working from about 8.30am in the morning; 4-5m weather depending on the gusts coming down from the hills with logo high waves.

With a favourable surf forecast, and the weather looking good, all looks set for a great Bude Surf Classic which is being held over the weekend of May 16th and 17th. With over 25 in the new Grommets division already entered and the other divisions filling up, organisers Christian Surfers UK, are not far away from having some divisions full before the weekend.

The SurfAid International SUP Race is a new 20-mile paddle race which will take place on Saturday 4 July 2009 as part of the renowned charity water sports event, Paddle Round The Pier Beach Festival, in Brighton, UK.
Organisers expect more than 20,000 visitors at this year’s festival which will be held on the weekend of 4 and 5 July, 2009. The festival has been a fundraiser for SurfAid for several years.
