Brian Vickers is in his happy place these days, and he isn’t about to let Kyle Busch spoil that for him.

Vickers met with the media Friday at Bristol Motor Speedway, where he was preparing for Saturday night’s Sharpie 500. Red Bull has moved to head off Ferrari and other Formula One teams by extending Sebastian Vettel’s contract to the end of the 2011 season.

Red Bull announced the new deal Friday, with the fresh contract replacing the previous one which tied the 22-year-old German to the team until the end of 2010. The new contract includes an option for the 2012 season.

The move will go some way to quelling speculation about Vettel’s future, with Ferrari figuring prominently in rumors about the German, as it does in connection with nearly all leading drivers.

Last Friday evening August 14, I was informed by an unofficial source that “Big Dog Motorcycles was stopping production for the rest of the month of August 2009. That for the remainder of the year there will be temporary production furloughs. That a 20% pay reduction across the board was applied to all employees left after the layoffs“.

LAKE OF THE OZARKS, Mo. — The Top Gun of timed racing will rise to the surface at the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Aug. 28-30.

The largest unsanctioned boat race in the nation, Powerboat Magazine has named the Shootout one of the nation’s eight “must-see” boating events. The race will run from the 32.5 to the 34.5 mile marker, just below the Hurricane Deck Bridge.

The event, in its second year on the west side, will be hosted by Captain Ron’s Bar & Grill on Lake Road 5-50 in Sunrise Beach (mile marker 34.5).
